New Before School Procedures and Donations

school-safetyThe McMillin Safety Committee worked on revising our School Safety Plan to ensure that students are safer before school. New before school procedures will start on Monday, January 25th 2016. Teachers will practice these new procedures with students next week from January 19th to January 22nd.

Please read the following new procedures:

  • These new procedures are for the entire school TK – 6th Grade.
  • Students should not be dropped off before 7:45 am unless they are enrolled in the YMCA.
  • Only one gate will be open at the front of the school. All other gates at the front of the school will be locked.
  • The back gate that opens up to the grass field will also be open.
  • Students will now wait and line up in their fire drill lines at the black top. Students will no longer line up in front of the school.
  • There will be supervision at the black top starting at 7:45 am.
  • Parents may wait in line with their children. Students may not wait outside their classrooms.
  • Students will be promptly picked up by the classroom teacher at 8:15 am.
  • Students will be marked tardy if they are not in line by 8:15 am.

 Breakfast

  • If students come through the front gate, then they will need to use the hallway to go to the snack tables. Breakfast is from 7:45 am to 8:05 am.
  • If students come through the back gate, then they will need to use the hallway to go to the snack tables.
  • Students will need to finish breakfast in time to walk to the back of the school and be in line by 8:15 am.

 Front gate

  • Students will use the hallways and walk towards the back of the school to their classroom fire drill line.

Back gate

  • Students will walk through the field and walk to their classroom fire drill line.

Rainy Day

  • Students will walk to the auditorium and not to their classroom fire drill lines.

Donations 

Dear Families,

The Month of the Military Child (April) is fast approaching and our military appreciation committee is seeking restaurant and business donations from the community to honor our military children and families at an event for them in April.  Donation ideas include but are not limited to: pizzas, gift cards or other food items for a dinner and raffle prizes.
