Dear McMillin Families,

So far, we have raised $7,440 in our Beagle Bolt Jog-a-Thon Fundraiser. Thank you!!  We still have less than two weeks to try and raise even more to help our students with their activities. The deadline is Friday, September 9th.  Please log on to pledgestar.com/mcmillin to register your child, if you have not already done so.  We are also accepting cash/check donations. Every single dollar goes directly to our students and it is also tax deductible! Go Beagle!

Our first ELAC meeting is tomorrow,  August 23rd from 8:20-9:20.  The main purpose of ELAC is to ensure that McMillin’s programs and budget are aligned to provide the best possible instructional program for all English Learners at McMillin. As a member of the English Learner Advisory Committee, you will learn more about school programs and participate in making decisions that impact teaching and learning at McMillin, especially support for English Learners.

While everyone is welcomed to the meeting,the majority of McMillin ELAC members need to be parents of English Learners, and members are elected by parents of English Learners.

We hope to see you there.

Bring your smiles

If you child rides a bike, scooter, or skateboard to school they must wear a helmet.  California law requires that anyone under the age of 18 must wear a helmet when riding on a street, bikeway or public bicycle path or trail.  We have noticed that very few students are wearing helmets as they ride up to school.

Bicycle helmets are not an option when it comes to keeping your children safe.  The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports that in 2010, 800 bicyclists were killed and 515,000 bicycle-related injuries required emergency-room care. Of those, 26,000 of were some type of traumatic brain injury that might have been prevented by wearing a helmet.

Please help us in keeping your children safe by requiring that they wear helmets to school if they choose to ride a bike, scooter, or skateboard.

Dear McMillin Parents,

Our Beagle Bolt Jog-a-Thon Fundraiser began last Thursday.  We are hoping this will be our main school-wide fundraiser that we will have in order to pay for grade level field trips, assemblies, classroom supplies, books, computer programs, and so much more.

Please log on to pledgestar.com/mcmillin to set up your child’s own fundraising program.  This is a flat donation event (not a per lap event). Cash and check donations are also accepted.  The last day of this fundraiser is Friday, September 9th.  Come on out and cheer our students as they participate in the Jog-a-Thon on that day.

McMillin Parents!

The PTA would like to invite you to a Family Games Night next Thursday, August 18th in the school auditorium.  This will be fun, casual evening for our students and their families!  Feel free to bring a game to play and share with friends, and bring your own snacks!  The auditorium will be open from 6:00 – 8:00pm.   Hope to see you there!

McMillin PTA

PTA had a great turn out for the start of our 2016-2017 School year! PTA is about building community! There are a lot of very exciting event for our students and families coming soon. Our first PTA Family Game Night is August 18th at 5:00pm in the auditorium. Please join us!
