Welcome Back McMillin Families: Quarter 2 Happenings

I hope you had a wonderful break and were able to spend time with your family. I did a lot of hiking and reading. My two favorite things. One book that I have been reading is called The Gardener and the Carpenter by Alison Gopnik. I wish I would have read it when my kids were young. You may like it. It has to do with two different philosophies of raising children. One is to build and design a child’s growth and understand and the other is to tend and nurture a child’s growth and understanding.  -Mrs. Orr

Welcome back, McMillin Families!  I am so excited to see all of our students back at school – I have missed seeing their faces each morning!  I hope that you were able to spend time with family and friends over the past two weeks.  I was fortunate to travel with my family, spending a great deal of time out in nature, soaking up its beauty!  Here’s to a great Quarter 2!  -Mrs. Sutton

School resumes tomorrow, October 8th and is a regular day!

This Thursday, we will be hosting a Mindfulness Lunch for all students here at McMillin!  Our purpose for this lunch is to bring attention to the noise level that happens at our lunch tables.  All week, students will be reviewing what it means to be mindful, how we can apply that to our lunch area and our school expectations of being safe, respectful and responsible.  On Thursday, soft music will play while the students eat.  Our goal is not to have the students do this indefinitely, but rather one day, so that they can see how different their lunch experience can be.  We hope that through our work together, the lunch time for all of our students will improve and be an enjoyable one!  Thank you for your support!

Last week of the Beagle Bolt Jog-A-Thon Fundraiser!!

Dear McMillin Families,

This is our last week of the Beagle Bolt Jog-A-Thon Fundraiser.  So far, we have raised $17,420! Most of our donations have been $10 – $25.  Every dollar sure does add up!
This event is extra special not only because students can win raffle prizes ranging from a laptop to a Nintendo Switch to Legoland tickets to gift cards for local businesses such as Subway, Rubio’s, AMC, Target, and more…but this fundraiser brings our community together to support a common goal which is: giving our students the best of opportunities, materials, and technologies! 100% of the money donated stays at our school!
Although any amount is appreciated, if you are able, please consider a donation of $25 to earn your child a McMillin drawstring bag, a beagle paw squeeze toy, and a paw print bracelet. Consider asking family and friends to help raise that amount in honor of your child. If you prefer to donate cash, we do accept cash as well! Just send it in any envelope labeled with your child’s name and teacher name. Checks can also be made out to McMillin PTA.
If you prefer to use the web-based system:

When you finish, the system emails pledge requests to your family and friends and allows them to make secure credit card donations online. You get notified each time a pledge is made, and you can track your pledge progress online.

Call 1-888-598-7510 if you need help.
