McMillin’s Winter Sing – 12/17 Grades TK-2nd Grade

Hello, McMillin families of TK, Kindergarten, First Grade, and Second Grade students,

It is with great excitement that we announce our annual Winter Sing concert event! It will once again be held at the Calvary Auditorium (right next door to our McMillin school); 1771 East Palomar Street on Monday, December 17, 2018. This year’s Winter Sing will be for Grades: TK, Kinder, 1, and 2 only. Please arrive with your child at 5:30 p.m. This will give us a chance to get students situated for a 6:00 p.m. start time. Please be prepared to stay for the entire show to provide a festive atmosphere without distraction for all students as they perform.

Special Note: Please park on our McMillin school grounds (or on the street) and walk over through parking lot gate. Calvary’s parking lot is available after 6:00 p.m.

We strongly encourage dressy, festive style attire. Please refrain from dressing with any obstructive accessories that may block the view of other children and/or parents; especially headwear that sticks up or out from the natural hair area.

It would be much appreciated if all family members remain quiet during performances of all students to show respect for the great amount of work that they put forth for this event; and to not obstruct the view of any audience member, staff, or administrators of the event.

We are greatly looking forward to this very special evening; and to your participation in this celebration. Every family counts and adds to the spirit of this event in their own special way!

Sincerely,

Joey Simsic

Morning Expectations Review

Dear McMillin Families,

Just a quick reminder about our morning expectations here at school.  Students should not arrive on campus before 7:45am, as there is no supervision.  Between 7:45 and 8:10am, students should be in one of the following three places:

  • At the tables eating breakfast

  • Participating in Running Club (all students and families are welcome)

  • Standing in line in front of their classroom letter.  The only exception would be TK and Kinder students in Rooms 401, 402, 403 and 404, which line up in front of their classroom.

At 8:10am (first bell), students who are in Running Club or at the lunch tables should make their way to the classroom lines on the blacktop.  The second bell rings at 8:15am.

Please help us by encouraging your student(s) to follow our morning procedures.  Thank you for your support!

“It’s PAWsitively GREAT to be a BEAGLE!”

Calling All Veterans Here at McMillin!

To show our gratitude to all Veterans and Active Duty Military, McMillin has planned the following:

  • Door Decorating – Each teacher will decorate the inside of their classroom door and post pictures of their class’ military veterans. Parents are asked to send in a hard copy for teachers to display on the door. Doors will be decorated by the afternoon of Friday, November 9th (to have displayed on the morning of Tuesday, November 13th and the remainder of the week). Please let your classroom teacher know if you can volunteer to help with decorating.  All photos need to be received by November 9th.

  • Patti Guthrie, third grade teacher at McMillin, has offered to put together a slide show to honor our military veterans. This slide show will be shown to students during morning announcements.  Dr. Guthrie asks that all photos be emailed to her directly at patricia.guthrie@mcmillinelementary.com.  Your email should include the service members name, student(s) name(s), and relationship.  Please feel free to send in any and all family members who are on active duty or retired. We would also like to honor in a special way any veterans who gave their lives in the line of duty. So please do let Dr. Guthrie and your child’s teacher know if this is the case.  Photos will need to be received by Friday, November 9th.

Thank you for all your support as we honor those who have served, past and present.
