Beyond Awareness – Volunteers Needed!

The PTA is in need of volunteers for the 17th Annual Beyond Awareness at McMillin on Thursday, February 6th. At this event, we celebrate diversity at its best. Community members with a variety of disabilities come to our school and share the message that even though their disability may be the first thing you notice, it is not what defines them as a person.  Our hope is that our students will take what they have learned through this experience, to help make the world a better place.

We are seeking volunteers to check in presenters, set up for the event, escort presenters around campus, prepare and serve lunch, assist presenters as needed, and clean up. If you are interested in volunteering, you may sign up at http://bit.ly/beyondawarness20.

This Week, January 27th – January 31st – Great Kindness Challenge at McMillin

We are excited to announce that we are participating in the 2020 Great Kindness Challenge where we will join thousands of schools across the country to create a culture of kindness.  Your child is part of a powerful and positive bullying prevention initiative that will lead to more kindness, unity, and respect at school and beyond.  All students are invited to participate.

Thank you for a great first week back!  It was wonderful to have all of our students on campus and back in classrooms.  We look forward to an outstanding second half of the year!

On Monday, January 20th, there will be no school in observance of Dr. Martin Luther King’s Birthday.  Tuesday, January 21st will be a regular school day for all students.

Just a reminder that our next ELAC (English Language Advisory Committee) Meeting is on Tuesday, January 21st at 8:30am in the auditorium.

At this meeting, we will present about the upcoming ELPAC (English Language Proficiency Assessments for California).  Students who are classified as English Learners take this assessment each year.  We will discuss what the assessment is and review some released questions so that you can see how your child is being assessed on their progress in English.  We hope to see you there!

Just a friendly reminder to adhere posted signs and red curb areas in our parking lots.  Cars should not be left unattended at red curbs at anytime.  Before school and at dismissal, the bus loop is for busses and daycare vehicles only.

Thank you for your help in keeping our parking lot safe for all of our students here at McMillin.
