School Sign In Change- Set up your digital passport from home today!

CVESD is transitioning to a new sign in system using an iPAD and a QR code that uses a Digital Passport! Cut down on your wait time by setting your passport today! All visiting adults are asked to please set-up their pass from home so you can start to use their DIGITAL PASSPORT right away! You can set this up from home! Please go the websites below and download the Raptor app for your phone. You will upload your ID and the app will create a QR for you. When you arrive to McMillin, use the iPad at the front to scan your QR code and you’ll have your Visitor sticker printed.

Hanover Opt In

Attention 4-6 grade families ,
Your child should have brought home a letter and opt- IN form for our district’s annual Hanover Survey. The survey will begin in April, and your student’s input is valuable in helping our district understand our students’ school experience, and shape our district’s priorities.

If you’d like your child to participate please return the form to your student’s teacher by March 21!

Orchestra Performance

McMillin Talent Show

Ready to show your talent, Beagles? Talent show auditions are coming up! This year, talent show auditions will be by VIDEO submission only. We will not be having in person auditions this year. If you are interested in auditioning for this year’s talent show, please submit a video to Ms. Kono by March 14th either via Class Dojo or to ms.konomusic@gmail.com

Talent requirements:

– Can be any performing talent (gymnastics, dance, singing) or showcase of a skill

– Must be no longer than 1.5 minutes long

– If you are using music, the music must be school appropriate.

-Acts may be done individually or in a group

If your student is accepted into this year’s talent show, please prepare to have them attend talent show rehearsals next quarter. They will be held Tuesdays in April from 3-4pm. The evening show will be Thursday, May 1st at 5pm.

¿Listos para mostrar su talento, Beagles? ¡Se acercan las audiciones de los concursos de talentos! Este año, las audiciones del concurso de talentos serán solo por presentación de VIDEO. No tendremos audiciones en persona este año. Si está interesado en audicionar para el programa de talentos de este año, envíe un video a la Sra. Adelante Mujer Conference- April 19. Open to all 6th Grade Latina Girls

ELPAC- English Language Proficiency Assessment of California

Starting in February the ELPAC will be administered to our multi-lingual students. The ELPAC is the required state test for English language proficiency (ELP) that must be given to students whose primary language is a language other than English. Students will be tested in the areas of speaking, listening, reading and writing.

The speaking portion is administered 1:1 in all grade levels, by our English Language Instructional Assistant, Ms. Villasenor. We have made some adjustments to our schedule to allow our students more time. Ms, Villasenor is finishing 2nd graders the first half of this week, and will be starting first grade later this week. She will continue and start kinder right after Spring break. Please ensure your student gets a good night’s rest, a nutritious breakfast and arrives to school on time ready to do their very best!  

A partir de febrero, el ELPAC se administrará a nuestros estudiantes multilingües. El ELPAC es el examen estatal requerido para el dominio del idioma inglés (ELP) que se debe dar a los estudiantes cuyo idioma principal es un idioma distinto al inglés. Los estudiantes serán evaluados en las áreas de hablar, escuchar, leer y escribir.

La parte oral es administrada 1:1 en todos los niveles de grado, por nuestra Asistente de Instrucción del Idioma Inglés, la Sra. Villaseñor. Hemos hecho algunos ajustes a nuestro programa para permitir que nuestros estudiantes tengan más tiempo. La Sra. Villaseñor está terminando el primer grado en la primera mitad de esta semana, y comenzará el primer grado a finales de esta semana. Ella continuará y comenzará a ser más amable justo después de las vacaciones de primavera. ¡Asegúrese de que su estudiante obtenga una buena noche de descanso, un desayuno nutritivo y llegue a la escuela a tiempo listo para dar lo mejor de sí mismo!

LCAP- Local Control Accountability Plan

Each year, school districts are required to develop and update their Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP)—a three-year roadmap outlining goals, actions, and expenditures designed to enhance student outcomes. At CVESD, community involvement is essential to ensuring our resources align with the diverse needs of students. As part of this process, we invite you for an in-person informational session. Your feedback is invaluable in shaping the future of the district. Save the Date this event will occur on Thursday March 15 from 8:15-8:30 at McMillin in the MPR.

Cada año, se requiere que los distritos escolares desarrollen y actualicen su Plan de Control Local y Responsabilidad (LCAP, por sus siglas en inglés), una hoja de ruta de tres años que describe las metas, acciones y gastos diseñados para mejorar los resultados de los estudiantes. En CVESD, la participación de la comunidad es esencial para garantizar que nuestros recursos se alineen con las diversas necesidades de los estudiantes. Como parte de este proceso, lo invitamos a una sesión informativa en persona. Sus comentarios son invaluables para dar forma al futuro de la distrito. Este evento se llevará a cabo el jueves 15 de marzo de 8:15 a 8:30 am. en el MPR de McMillin. 

Visitors and Safety Reminders

This is a friendly reminder that in an effort to enhance safety at our school, CVESD installed a buzzer on the front office doors. When you arrive to the office, please knock to let us know you are here and someone will buzz you in. Unfortunately, the door does not make a sound when it is unlocked. We ask that you pull the door open after knocking. Please be advised that only the door on the right-hand side will be unlocked. Additionally, during school hours, from 8:15-2:45, only volunteers are allowed on campus.

Please be prepared to bring your I.D. and sign in via the Raptor Visitor Management System. If you are planning to volunteer regularly,  please be sure to speak with our secretary, Ms. Moraima, to complete all necessary paperwork and orientation requirements. We appreciate everyone’s understanding, as it is important for the safety of our campus and students.  

Este es un recordatorio amistoso de que en un esfuerzo por mejorar la seguridad en nuestra escuela, CVESD instaló un timbre en las puertas de la oficina principal. Cuando llegue a la oficina, llame para informarnos que está aquí y alguien le llamará para que entre. Desafortunadamente, la puerta no hace ningún ruido cuando está desbloqueada. Le pedimos que abra la puerta después de llamar. Tenga en cuenta que solo se desbloqueará la puerta del lado derecho. Además, durante el horario escolar, de 8:15 a 2:45, solo se permiten voluntarios en el campus.

Lastly, for the safety of our students, staff and families this is a friendly reminder to please follow all parking and traffic rules when driving and parking on campus. Visitors should not leave vehicles unattended in the drop off and pick up lane, and please make sure you are not parking in any red zones, Proper plates or placards should be displayed if you park in the handicap spots. CVPD SROs have been on site to help ensure traffic regulations are being followed.  

Por último, para la seguridad de nuestros estudiantes, personal y familias, este es un recordatorio amistoso de que siga todas las reglas de estacionamiento y tráfico cuando conduzca y se estacione en el campus. Los visitantes no deben dejar vehículos desatendidos en el carril de entrega y recogida, y asegúrese de no estacionarse en ninguna zona roja, se deben mostrar placas o carteles adecuados si se estaciona en los lugares para discapacitados. Los SRO de CVPD han estado en el lugar para ayudar a garantizar que se cumplan las normas de tráfico.

Attendance Update

Did you know that missing 18 days in a school year is considered chronically absent? This not only impacts students’ academic wellbeing, but also their social relationships with their peers. McMillin’s Chronic Absenteeism Rate for the 23-24 school year was 12%. We dropped an outstanding 6% from the year prior! We’d like to continue that trend and our chronic absenteeism goal for this year is 8%. 

¿Sabías que faltar 18 días en un año escolar se considera ausencia crónica? Esto no solo impacta en el bienestar académico de los estudiantes, sino también en sus relaciones sociales con sus compañeros. La tasa de ausentismo crónico de McMillin para el año escolar 23-24 fue del 12%. ¡Perdimos un 6% con respecto al año anterior! Nos gustaría continuar con esa tendencia y nuestro objetivo de ausentismo crónico para este año es del 8%.   Take a look at our chronic absenteeism rate compared to the last two years! We continue to decrease our absenteeism rate each year, and hope this trend continues into the Spring! Keep it up!

What: Families will learn all they need to know for preschool and transitional kindergarten.
