Distance Learning

Hello McMillin Parents!

We hope you are all doing well and staying safe at home, practicing social distancing, and washing those hands!  You may have seen the message from our Superintendent regarding school closure and Distance Learning, but if not, I’ve included a link here to the CVESD website where you can access his latest message to parents regarding the next steps in continuing to provide education to your child(ren).

Next week our teachers will be engaging in professional development, planning, and preparing for this new format for delivering instruction, so our Distance Learning plan will begin on April 13.  Your child’s teacher will be in contact with each of you next week to discuss the best way to connect and communicate with your child.

What exactly is Distance Learning?  Distance Learning is not necessarily Online Learning. Distance Learning means that the teacher and the student are in different locations, and instruction can be delivered via computer, telephone, television, and even paper/pencil if remote means are not possible.  We embrace the reality that this is a big transition for all of us, but we are all working together to ensure that we continue to support your child’s academic progress at home. Thank you in advance for your patience, flexibility, and support as we all adapt to teaching and learning in new ways.

In the meantime, continue to read at home with your child, engage in fun family activities like games and cooking, and utilize any fun and free kid-friendly websites of interest.

Mrs. Sutton and I also look forward to finding fun and innovative ways to stay connected with our families and students as well!

Take care.

We’re all in this together!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Orr & Mrs. Sutton
