McMillin Elementary School

A HUGE THANK YOU to our McMillin PTA and all of the volunteers who made this year’s Spring Carnival a success!  A great time was had by all!  Thank you again, and we look forward to doing it again next year!

Testing is happening in many of our classrooms across campus over the next few weeks.  Attached is the calendar for your reference.  If you have any questions, please reach out to your child’s teacher or the front office.

McMillin Testing Calendar For Parents 2018-2019

The PTA will be hosting a Staff Appreciation Luncheon Friday, May 10^th.  You can help make this event a success by:

• Volunteering to help set up, prepare food, serve food, or clean up after the luncheon. Sign up:  Volunteer Sign-Up for Staff Appreciation
• Donating a small gift (such as a $5 gift card) for a drawing to be held at the luncheon.  Donations will be accepted through Wednesday, May 8^th in the McMillin Office.  THANK YOU!

 

Thank you so much to Mrs. De Los Reyes, Mr. and Mrs. Chumbley, Ms. Deleon, and Mrs. Sutton for helping reshelve books in our school library today. We accomplished so much, but we are not done yet. We welcome any parent that would like to help tomorrow. 🙂 As soon as all the books are put back in the right place students can start checking out books again.

The PTA is in need of volunteers for the Annual McMillin Carnival.  We are seeking volunteers to help sort auction items and assemble auction baskets on 4/23 and 4/24.  On 4/26 we need volunteers to help set up tables, tents, and games, sell carnival tickets and McMillin t-shirts, and to monitor the auction area.  If you are interested in volunteering, you may sign up at https://www.signupgenius.com/go/70A0D4EA4AE22AAFB6-mcmillin2. We have moved a few things around in our library and would love to have some parents and/or high school volunteers to help put books back on shelves.

This Sunday, April 14 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm, we will be putting books back on shelves and organizing them for students.

We hope that you all had a wonderful Spring Break!  We are excited to be back for Quarter Four!  We have many exciting events happening at McMillin in the coming weeks:

April is Month of the Military Child!  At McMillin, we are so fortunate to have many families who serve or who have served The United States by defending our nation.  This month, we celebrate their children, who sacrifice by sharing their family members with our country every day!  We thank you for your service.  Attached is the list of activities:

End of Year Assessments will be starting within the next few weeks!  Students from Kindergarten through Sixth Grade will be participating in different assessments around Reading, Writing and Math.

• District Local Measures in Reading, Writing and Math for K & 1
• District Local Measures in Reading (Level Set), Math and Writing for Grade 2
• Level Set, CAASPP in ELA and MATH for Grades 3-6
• Science (CAST) for Grade 5 only

WOW!!! Our goal for our YMCA McMillin coin drive was $800. We just counted the coins. We raised $800.13. Mrs. Sandoval’s Class will receive a pizza party for raising the most money. Her class alone raised $124.12!!

THANK YOU!! McMillin has the best parents/families, students, and staff. Thank you for your generous donations.
