Return Library Books, Student Items Pick Up and New Registrations for 2020/21
McMillin Families,
As the year comes to a close, we would like to thank you for your continued support during this challenging time. Our office staff is on campus from now until June 16th to close out the school year. While our office is not open to the public, please call us at 619-397-0103, we can come out curbside, to help with the following:
- Medication Pick Up
- Student Materials (from their current classroom) can be picked up if you haven’t done so yet. If you are unable to come, it will be held until we open again.
- NEW STUDENT REGISTRATION for the 2020/21 School Year (Residency verification for current students is currently on hold at this time)
If you have classroom library books or school library books, there is a basket on a table in the bus loop that you can drop them off in.

DASH Lottery for 2020-2021 – Window Open Now
Due to closures of CVESD schools and the YMCA, the DASH LOTTERY process for the 2020-2021 school year will be completed online only.

The attached document provides a link to register into the lottery. Once the registration period is complete, the YMCA will run the random lottery process which selects the accepted students per school. The YMCA will then email those families prior to the start of school that have been accepted for their next steps. Those not selected will be placed on the waitlists which will be re-evaluated once school opens. Registration into the lottery does not guarantee students into the program. Any registrations submitted after the deadline will be placed on the waitlists. One registration per student allowed and only for their selected school.

McMillin Elementary School Closure Information
Dear McMillin Families,
As you know, it was announced this afternoon that our CVESD schools will remain closed indefinitely. Dr. Escobedo shared today, “We will send you weekly updates while our schools are closed until further notice.” We miss all of our students and families, however, we understand that we must do our part to support our community’s safety.
The next two weeks are our previously scheduled Spring Break. We hope that you will be able to spend this time, enjoying moments with your students.

Meal Distribution
Due to the extraordinary circumstances that our families are facing, the Chula Vista Elementary School District will extend its “grab-and-go” meal service. Please be sure to read the latest information from our Superintendent about Food Distribution during our Spring Break. Food Distribution will occur at nine sites across the district on Tuesday, March 24th & Tuesday, March 31st. Families will only need to make one trip to the closest school location. Mrs. Orr and Mrs. Sutton will be at Muraoka on 3/24 and 3/31, respectively, to help distribute meals.
The hours are: 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (noon) each day.
Students who are receiving the meals must be physically present. Meals are served cold and need to be reheated at home. The locations are:

Scholastic Book Fair March 4th – 6th from 8:30 – 3:30 daily in the McMillin Auditorium, students must be accompanied by an adult before and after school to attend.
Family Night Wednesday, March 4th 5:00-6:30 pm, raffles for Scholastic gift certificate will be held throughout the evening. We hope to see you there!
