Parent Input Needed

We would like your input on how LCAP (Local Control Accountability Plan) and Title 1 funds are spent.

LCAP funds are given to school sites based on the number of students in the following categories: English learners, Socioeconomically Disadvantaged, and Foster Youth. The funds must be spent to achieve the goals outlined in our district’s LCAP:

1. The District will continue to learn, reflect, and improve or increase equity initiatives for all students and families, with a specific focus on Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC), English Learners (ELs), Students with Disabilities (SWD), Low-Income (LI), Foster Youth (FY), Homeless (HM) student, and LGBTQ+ students.

2. The District will improve and increase access to services for all students and families that support social, emotional, and physical wellness with a specific focus on BIPOC, ELs, SWD, LI, FY, HM students, and LGBTQ+ students.

3. The District will improve and increase access to services for all students to improve academic achievement with a specific focus on BIPOC, ELs, SWD, LI, FY, HM students, and LGBTQ+ students.

Title 1 funds are provided to schools based on the number of students who are considered socioeconomically disadvantaged. These funds are intended to address the conditions, access to resources, or learning disparities that may lead to an inequitable educational experience.

Purple Star Recognition Ceremony April 15th at 8:30am on the blacktop

The California Purple Star School Designation Program (Purple Star Program) seeks to reduce the burden on military-connected students and their families by articulating the most critical transition supports for military-connected students and their families by publicly designating schools that meet certain requirements.

The program signals which schools are the most committed and best equipped to meet their unique needs.

The Purple Star Program was designed to help mitigate the challenges of high mobility by setting standards for and publicly designating military-friendly schools.

The Purple Star Program’s true value derives from its potential to:

  • Centralize and make knowledge accessible,
  • Develop stakeholder networks, and
  • Support schools in cultivating and communicating cultural competency in supporting military-connected families.

McMillin has received this designation for their services and program designed specifically to address the needs of Military families by

  • Welcoming and acclimating a new military-connected student.
  • Providing educational supports for military-connected students, including special populations.
  • By providing Social-emotional supports for military-connected students.
  • Providing professional development to staff

Monday April 15th at 8:30am we will celebrate our award of “Purple Star School” with Navy band southwest performing for our students.  Families are welcome to attend.

Polling Station Information

Dear McMillin Families:

McMillin Elementary School has been designated as a polling site for the upcoming March 5, 2024, presidential primary elections. To ensure the safety of our staff and students, our district has safety precautions for voters and poll workers visiting our school sites during elections. These precautions include:

  • Access to the polling area will be restricted to authorized personnel and voters, with designated entry and exit points.
  • To prevent overcrowding, we will manage the number of individuals in the polling area at any time.
  • Adequate signage and personnel will help direct pedestrian traffic flow and to minimize congestion.
  • Our emergency response plan is in place, and our staff is trained to handle various emergencies.
  • We will work closely with local law enforcement to address any issues promptly.
  • Every effort will be made to place poll locations away from school offices, classrooms, and areas where students will be present.

Voting will be available at our school from Saturday, March 2, 2024, through Monday, March 4, 2024, between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. On Tuesday, March 5, 2024, the polling site will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. If you have additional questions, please contact me.
