McMillin Elementary School Closure Information

Screen Shot 2020-03-13 at 5.20.41 PM

Dear McMillin Families,

As you know, it was announced this afternoon that our CVESD schools will remain closed indefinitely.  Dr. Escobedo shared today, “We will send you weekly updates while our schools are closed until further notice.”  We miss all of our students and families, however, we understand that we must do our part to support our community’s safety.

The next two weeks are our previously scheduled Spring Break.  We hope that you will be able to spend this time, enjoying moments with your students.

We continue to be available to support you and your family.  Please reach out to us if you need anything:  Cynthia Orr – cynthia.orr@cvesd.org and Crystal Sutton – crystal.sutton@cvesd.org.

We miss you all and can’t wait to see you again!

Stay healthy and safe,

Mrs. Orr and Mrs. Sutton

Yes, I know I am not the best videographer. Sorry for the wrong way videos and times where you couldn’t see me drawing. Yes, my dogs need to be cleaned and they have a lot of toys. This is to show everyone that you can do it too!

If you would like to post a video of your child or you teaching us how to draw something, upload the video here.

Thank you and I hope everyone is well.

For additional Food Resources, please review the options listed below.

Both the Jacobs & Cushman San Diego Food Bank and Feeding San Diego are operating as usual. By calling 211, clients can provide their address and be directed to the closest food distribution in their area. The San Diego Food Bank website will direct to their distribution sites as contained on the 211 website (https://my211.force.com/s/service-directory?code=BD). The San Diego Food Bank is in need of volunteers. Feeding San Diego distributions can be found on the ‘Need Help’ tab (https://feedingsandiego.org/need-help/food-distributions). Non-regular volunteer shifts have been canceled.

CalFresh (SNAP)

The CalFresh program and local CalFresh application assistance continue to operate as normal. Benefits will be received by enrollees as normal. Feeding San Diego continues to offer application assistance, however, all appointments will be conducted via telephone or Zoom conference. Feeding San Diego will not host any in-person visits or workshops.

San Diego Hunger Coalition

The coalition is putting together a COVID-19 food assistance-specific webpage, where visitors can get updated information on food distribution sites, CalFresh updates, CalWORKS updates, and WIC. They will also have opportunities for advocacy regarding emergency food funds from the State and Federal levels.

Additionally, starting Wednesday, March 18 the Chula Vista Elementary School District Office will be closed to the public, as will all school front offices.  At this time, the District office and school offices are scheduled to reopen on Monday, April 6.

During these uncertain times, it’s important that we remain calm, follow the advice of trusted sources, and remember that we will get through this together.

Sincerely,

Francisco Escobedo, Ed.D.

Superintendent
