This Week at McMillin – Jan. 28th – Feb. 2

“It’s PAWSITIVELY GREAT to be a BEAGLE!”

This year, we have been working very hard as a school community to provide an education for our students that not only connects with their minds, but also with their hearts.  With the district’s support around MTSS and PBIS, McMillin has taken on the challenge of true implementation of PBIS. We have developed school-wide norms, BE SAFE, BE RESPECTFUL and BE RESPONSIBLE, a school motto and expectations across locations on our campus.  Restorative Practices have been in use for several years at McMillin, however, the new work with PBIS and SEL with Sanford Harmony has only strengthened our efforts to support the whole child at McMillin.

Our 16th Annual Beyond Awareness Celebration will be held at McMillin on Thursday, February 7th.  We welcome each one of you to attend! At this event, we celebrate diversity at its best. Community members with a variety of disabilities come to our school and share the message that even though their disability may be the first thing you notice, it not what defines them as a person.  Our hope is that our students will take what they have learned through this experience, to help make the world a better place.
