Please join us for our final English Language Advisory Council meeting of the year on Wednesday, May 23rd at 8:30 in the McMillin conference room.  We will be sharing and soliciting feedback on our parent compact and will be discussing our plans for next year to address the needs of our English language learners.  We look forward to seeing you then.

Staff Appreciation Week

Dear McMillin Families,

Staff Appreciation Week is being celebrated at McMillin Elementary May 21st through May 25th. The McMillin Elementary School PTA would like to celebrate in a number of ways. We invite you to participate in the following events to show gratitude for all that our teachers and staff do to enhance the lives of our children. Please remember that these are only suggestions – feel free to have your child bring what he or she would like.

Suggested Themes:

Monday 5/21 – Bring a hand written note or picture

Tuesday 5/22 – Bring a piece of fruit

Wednesday 5/23 – Bring a yummy treat or candy bar

Thursday 5/24 – Bring a flower to brighten their day

Friday 5/25 – Today is your day to bring any kind of gift

In addition the PTA is hosting a Staff Appreciation Luncheon Friday, May 25th. You can help make this event a success by:

  • Volunteering to help set up, prepare food, serve food, or clean up after the luncheon. Sign up at here
  • Donating food items for the luncheon, sign up at here
  • Donating a small gift (such as a $5 gift card) for the drawing to be held at the luncheon. Donations are being accepted through than Wednesday, May 23rd in the front office.

We will be having an ELAC meeting Thursday, April 26th at 8:30am in the McMillin Library.  We will be reviewing data, reviewing the proposed budget, and discussing the upcoming assessments.  We hope you can make it.

Month of the Military Child

Here are the list of events planned to celebrate the Month of the Military Child:

Yearbook Picture

On Thursday morning, March 15th, we will take a group photo of all of our military students for the yearbook.

Military Yearbook Page Art Contest

Submissions due April 2nd. The artwork of the winner will be featured on one of the Military Student pages in the yearbook. Please submit artwork that depicts the experience of a military family, on an 8 ½’ x 11″ piece of paper, portrait view.

Military Month Kickoff Assembly and Wear Purple Day

On Friday, April 6th at 8:45 military children will be invited to a special assembly during which time we will reveal the winner of the yearbook page art contest and pass out purple bracelets and ribbons.

Military Game Day

During lunch recess time on April 20th, students will be invited into the auditorium to play games and build with Keva Blocks.

Military Movie Night

Come join us Wednesday, April 25th from 5:00-7:00 to watch a movie together.  Pizza and water will be served.

 

McMillin Yearbook Art Contest

 
Dear McMillin Students,

You are invited to participate in an Art Contest for the INSIDE cover page of the 2017 – 2018 yearbook.

The theme is “A McMillin School Year in Review”. Incorporate school events into a colorful, beautiful piece of artwork! (Parents remember, this should be the child’s work.)

Please submit on a white sheet of paper 8.5 x 11 in size, Portrait Orientation. Write your first and last name, teacher’s name, and room number on the back in PENCIL. Please drop off your submission in the PTA mailbox in the front office.

Deadline for all entries is Wednesday, March 14,  2018. Good luck!

McMillin Yearbook: “Love Lines” and “Buddy Pictures”

McMillin Families,
 
LOVE LINES: Love lines are available for the yearbook.  Sixth graders   received the form from their teachers. For all other students, there are forms available in the office. This is an opportunity for parents to leave their children a message in the yearbook. Cost is $5 for 25 words, $10 for 45 words. All love lines forms are due by Friday, March 16, 2018. 
 
 
BUDDY PICTURES: Our yearbook photographer will be taking ‘Buddy Pics’. The cost is $1 per person and the picture will be included in the Buddy Pictures page in the yearbook. Grab a friend or two and have your picture taken! The scheduled date is Wednesday, February 28th at the big toy, before and after school (7:45am – 8:10am, and 2:45pm – 3:00pm).
